Junes Newsletter

Newsletter, June 2017

We would like to welcome all the new children who have joined us. We hope you all have lots of fun with all your new friends.

Firstly in the Tiggywinkles room we would like to welcome Joshua, in the Benjamin Bunnies we welcome Amelia and into our Jeremy Fishers we have Rose joining us.

Some of the children are still missing sun cream and sun hats, fresh air is so important to us all, but as the weather gets warmer the children will not be able to go outside if they are not provided with cream and hats.  If you still haven’t brought yours in please can you do so as a matter of urgency.

New Team Members

We have some new team members joining us over the coming few weeks, but on June 12th Bethany Wilcock will start with us in the Jeremy Fishers room.  Bethany has a level 3 qualification and has been working as a key practitioner in a nursery for the last few years. We welcome her and the team will introduce her to you once she starts with us.

We are also recruiting two apprentices this year who are hoping to start week commencing July 10th.  This has worked very well for us in the past and our shining examples of this are Kelly and Georgina.  More information about this to come next month.

Happy Janet…..sad us

It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that Janet is moving out of the area to be closer to her family.  Her completion date is now set so I can delay this no further.  Janet will be leaving us on Friday 7th July to go and live in Leicester, we obviously wish her well and hope the children that she will work with in the future know how lucky they are. So, good luck Janet, it goes without saying we will all miss you terribly, and I am sure that goes for you all too.

We are still getting complaints from some of the residents in the village about our parking, in particular about those parents who park in the KEEP CLEAR area just outside of pre-school.  Please can I remind you that if your child is able to walk there is plenty of parking at the back of the Reading room adjacent to Nursery, so if there is no space in a ‘proper’ parking space please use this car park.

Staffing Update

We have a new member of the team in the Nursery building, working with The Benjamin Bunnies, Dawn Seweryn, Dawn is a qualified and very experienced member of staff and will be working with us three days each week, these days will be, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The team will introduce you to her over the coming weeks and she could become your child’s key practitioner, in which case you will be advised accordingly.

Also from this week Gemma will return to the Benjamin Bunnies room as Room Leader with Georgina, this is due to the size of the team working with this age group and also as Gemma has missed this age and requested a transfer back into nursery.

This will impact on some of the pre-school children for who Gemma was Key practitioner for which I apologise, however, as you know we now have Louisa working in the pre-school who is a key practitioner.  If your child is one that will be affected by this change you will be advised this week of your child’s new key practitioner.

If you have any questions with regard to this, please let me know.

Newsletter May 2017

We would like to welcome all the new children who have joined us. We hope you all have lots of fun with all your new friends.

Firstly in the Tiggywinkles room we would like to welcome Quinn, Ava, Thomas and Peter. In the Benjamin Bunnies we welcome Ellie and into our Jeremy Fishers we have Louise and Oliver joining us shortly.

Please can we remind all parents and carers that we do not open the nursery until 8 am in the mornings, the staff are here before this time to allow the nursery to be set up ready for the day ahead. Likewise, if you are dropping off for the afternoon session at 1 p.m please take into account that we are unable to take your children earlier than this to allow the morning children to have been collected.

Our sickness Policy

We would like to take this opportunity to refresh everyone on our sickness policy.

We follow the guidelines set out by the Health Protection Agency.

If your child has sickness or diarrhoea, we ask that you keep your children at home for 48 hours after the last incident to allow your child time to recover fully and to safeguard all the children at Nursery/Pre-School.

If your child is given anti-biotics again we ask that your child must have been taking them for 48 hours before coming back to the setting, this allows the anti-biotics to begin working so the children are well enough to be here.

Thank you for understanding with this.

The Nursery car park operates on a one way system, you enter at the far gates and exit via the gates next to the nursery. Please drive slowly and be mindful of other cars and any children/parents getting out of their cars. Please park safely and do not block the entrance/exit. If you are parking at the Pre-School, please use the designated spaces at the end of wheelers rise and be mindful not to block driveways.

If your child is old enough to walk, please can we remind you that you can also use the reading room Car Park and the layby’s to allow the Nursery Car Park to be used by those parents with children that need to be carried.

As the weather is finally starting to brighten up, could we ask that you bring in sun cream for your child to keep at nursery so we can apply as and when needed.

We have accumulated a few pieces of clothing/socks over the past month, we will place a box of lost property in the hallway for you to go through at drop off/collection times. Where possible can you please label all items to allow us to make sure they are returned to you.

This month we are learning about people who help us. If any parents/carers would like to come into our pre-School to talk to our older children about their jobs please let us know. We would love you to come and share your knowledge with us.

Easter Weekend

So Easter is here and for us at Puddleducks that means a four day weekend as we are closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday, that doesn’t mean rest for all of us as the new kitchen is being fitted in the Pre-school classroom over the weekend.  This has been long awaited and we cannot wait until it’s done.  Also thank you to Aaron’s mummy from the Jeremy Fishers room who made us a very splendid Easter cake, which has been raffled and raised £45.00 for The Katherine House Hospice, so a big thank you all round for that.  I heard on the radio this morning that it is going to be colder on Easter Sunday than it was on Christmas day, so we will need to wrap up in order to get out and enjoy ourselves. Whatever you are up to over this weekend we wish you all a Happy Easter and will see you next week.
